Craft Time

Last night Emma and I dragged out her paint and made a couple things. I took a couple of empty coffee mate creamer bottles and let Emma paint one while I painted a penguin (I'm  little bit penguin obsessed).

Also my child is pokemon obsessed. And when she wanted to paint her hand yellow it hit me... HANDPRINT PIKACHU! So we made a mommy and Emma pikachu, daddy will be next.

Emma painted me a picture too and told me it was a duck.

Coffee Cozy - free pattern

I couldn't find a pattern I liked so I wrote one up myself. I got the idea to make one because every time I make my coffee my 3 year old wants "coffee" too. So I make her some tea with milk. The mug stays warm for a while so she can't pick it up. And then sparked the idea "hey I can crochet I'll just make her a cozy!"

So here's the pattern:

Fits 10.5" mug

Chain: ch
Stitch: st
Half double crochet: hdc
Single crochet: SC
Decrease: dec

Row 1: ch 9
Row 2: SC in each st
Row 3-4: ch 1 repeat row 2
Row 5-7: ch 1, 2 SC in first st & 2 SC in last st
Row 8-50: ch 1, hdc in each st
Row 51: ch1, dec in first 2 st & dec in last 2 st of row
Row 52-53: ch 1 and repeat row 51
Row 54-55: ch 1 SC in each st
Row 56: ch 1 SC first 2 st, ch 3 (skip 3 st) SC in last 2 st (you just made your button hole)
Row 57: ch 1 SC in each st and then finish off

You just made a cozy! Now choose a button of your liking and sew it on. You can add anything you'd like to your cozy.

Re-opened for Business

In 2012 I opened a Facebook page called ClementsCrafts to sell all my handmade crafts. For a long time my health got in the way of my crocheting. Hard to crochet when you have arthritis in your hands. Well since my health since to be some what under control I decided to reopen my store. It's still just an fb page. I haven't started selling anything on etsy yet even though I do have a store already open on it.  So far right now all that I'm selling are crochet hats and coffee cozies. I do take requests so please go like my page!

New Club Member

Well my husband has joined me in club "Four Eyes". He got his glasses today and they look so good! I thought it'd take me a while to get used to him having to wear glasses now, but they just look like they belong on his face ;)

Emma didn't look at daddy weird or anything. She didn't need to get used to the fact daddy had to wear glasses from now on. In fact I think she feels left out that she's now the only one without glasses haha

"Tap the Magic Tree" book craft time

Emma recently got "Tap the Magic Tree" by Christie Matheson from the library and it's a hit with Emma. We've only had it a few days and I've lost count of how many times I've read it. It's one of those action books where the kid does something and the action "makes" something happen on the next page, and with this book your child is "making" the seasons change. Well this morning I decided 'hey this could make a neat craft'. I'm sure there's many ways you could do a craft with this book, but I traced Emma's hand and forearm and as we read the book we added to the picture.

I highly recommend this book for anyone with small children! It's short, simple and fun! Yes it'll end up being something you read over and over until you're blue in the face, but hey you're encouraging the worlds next generation of bookworms! What's more rewarding?!

Lupus Walk 2014

M

On Saturday Shawn and I went on our 2nd lupus walk in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was Emma's first time. We had fun, got to see a fellow lupie friend and her family. We were supposed to walk 1 mile but I tracked it on my mapmywalk app and it turned out to be closer to 2 miles. We brought Emma's stroller, but she ended up walking most of it (stubborn girl).

Other than being Emma's first walk it was  also the first time she heard the national anthem.

And first time a clown had made a balloon animal just for her.

Her balloon poodle fell on the grass and the front legs popped. She was upset for about 4 minutes and I stuffed the balloon dog into my new Walk to End Lupus bag. Out of sight out of mind.

After the walk my friend's daughter and her friend performed two songs and they were amazing. <3

They do a balloon release every year and it's supposed to be for those we've lost to this horrible illness, but this year they announced it was for anyone suffering with the illness and as they released the balloons into the sky a woman sang the song "I will survive". The meaning for the balloons was lost and the song choice was very inappropriate. I and a bunch of others were very ticked off about this. They took a beautiful way to remember those we've lost and ruined it.

Before we left a couple actually got married at the event. They had a ton of people attending with them & they all wore matching shirts. It was sweet and even a news channel was there to record it. I did feel sorry for them though because the sound system sucked and they kept getting feed back during the entire little ceremony.

As soon as we got to the car my skin started to hurt. I had to wipe off my little butterfly I had face painted & my make up because my face was stinging. I had to take my necklace off because hives were forming around the bad of my neck. I thankfully had my crime medicine in my purse and applied it. I fell asleep for the two hour car ride home. I felt a little better after my nap, but later in the evening I had to take some meds because I felt shaky. I ended up having a seizure anyway.

Sunday I stayed home alone. My husband went larping (live action role playing) for the first time and he dropped Emma off with my cousin while he did that so I could rest. I turned on Netflix to try and catch up on an anime I'm currently watching, but I was so weak I couldn't concentrate on the subtitles. I went and laid back down and pretty much slept until 4pm when my husband called to tell me he and Emma were almost home.

I'm hoping tomorrow is a better day and hope my body isn't trying to go into a full on flare. Ain't nobody got time for that.
