Banned Books

(Take two because the app force closed right before I finished it and erased everything! Ugh…)

So the newest book to be banned is "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green… really? A school district removed the 3 copies they had from their middle school deeming it inappropriate for children 11 to 13 years of age to read because of a tiny bit of sex, talk of mortality & terminal illness… really? The vote was 6 to 1. I couldn't find where this school was all I found was a Riverside district and Frank Augustus Miller Middle School.

I loved this book. I cried my eyes out! I was worried that I wouldn't like the movie because movies sometimes stray away from the books they're based on, but the movie didn't stray. I was also worried because I'm not a big fan of Shailene Woodley (The Secret Life of An American Teenager kinda ruined her for me I guess), but she turned out being perfect for Hazel and I cried my eyes out watching this movie just as I did reading the book.

In my house there will be no banned books. There will be books demanding to be read to share their adventures, love, magic, and heartache. If my daughter someday comes home asking to read a book that's on a banned list I will search high and low until that book is in her possession!

My husband isn't a big reader, and I hope my love of reading will be passed on to Emma. Books are magical. You can live thousand and thousand of lives and loose yourself in another reality.

I love my world, but I'm always searching for another one to get lost in.

So Ready

Tomorrow will mark the 13th day that Emma and I have been staying at my grandma's house. I do love visiting my family, but I am so ready to go home tomorrow. All of my old friends and my doctors are here in town so when I visit my grandma I try to shedule my doctors appointments & play dates while I'm here. We live 45 minutes away from here which doesn't seem far, but on a one income family the gas to go back and forth is brutal.

I am so ready to see my wonderful husband, ready to be in our apartment, ready for my own bed, ready for the little walks Emma and I take to the lake near our apartment. So ready to be home.

We already have planned the next time Emma and I come to grandma's house. The earliest my primary care doctor could see me was October 9th so that week Emz and I will stay for a couple days. Not as long as this visit though. This visit was supposed to end on this past Saturday, but my foot doctor wanted to see me back in a week so we stayed for a couple extra days. I told my grandma next time we visit I'm bringing my caddy full of my meds because since I was only planning on staying to Saturday I only brought meds for 9 days. So I've been without my meds for a few days and my body is not happy with me. I had a very mild seizure tonight due to my not having my meds. So yeah from now on my big caddy of meds is coming with me.

I am excited for my next visit because I'll be babysitting my favorite one year old Carson. Hopefully next visit I'll get him more than one day :) Emma loves when I babysit my friend's little boy. You can tell she wants a sibling, but I have a feeling she wouldn't want a sibling that's there 24/7. After 7 hours of Carson she started to get a little jealous lol. Guess it's a good thing my husband doesn't want anymore kiddos.

Well off to bed (hopefully) I go. Insomnia is not my friend. Can't wait to see my hubby in the morning!!!!

Craft Time Results

On the 15th I posted that my mom, daughter and I went to a place called Earth & Fire to paint pottery. We picked the stuff we painted up today and here are our results :)
                       Mug I painted
                   Mug my mom painted
A heart I painted that I will soon be turning into a magnet
A car Emma painted that I will be turning into a magnet
                A horse that Emma painted

Why Fight It???

I will never understand why kiddos fight nap time. I'd love it if someone said, "ok. It's nap time go lay down"!

I don't force my 3 year old to take naps and a lot of days she doesn't take one. I love the days she does though because that means momma gets a nap too.

Emma was sucking her thumb, pulling on her ear and yawning. I gave her some chocolate milk and started to rub her back. All of a sudden I'm getting yelled at, getting my hair pulled, etc. My baby turns into a holy terror. She's still fighting it. She's tired and needs a nap, but she's not having it.

Poor child will be in for a rude awakening when she's older and she wants to take a nap, but it's not a possibility.

Party & Craft time

Saturday Emma had a birthday party to go to for one of her little friends, Norah turned 2 years old. Emma had a lot of fun and I'm pretty sure I caught baby fever because everywhere I turned someone was holding a baby. I think there were at least 4 or 5 babies!

I was a little worried because when it was time for Norah to open her presents Emz want to open them to. She end up playing with Norah's play kitchen instead of watching Norah open her presents.

When it was cake time all the kiddos were excited to tear into the Cookie Monster cookie cakes. Then when they all sat down every single kid ate only the icing! Totally left the whole cookie! Never known a kid to turn down a cookie!!!!

After the party my mom picked us up and we headed to a pottery painting place called Earth & Fire. I love it there and the last time I went I was pregnant with Emma. My mom & I painted mugs and Emz painted a horse statue.

Mom & I both decided that we're not bringing Emma back there again until she's 5 or 6. She loved painting, but she wanted to paint everything. She understands we have to pay for things but she doesn't understand HOW MUCH we have to pay haha. She grabbed a small heart that was $2 painted on it for 2 seconds and then said "mommy you paint it". So I ended up painting it since we already had to pay for it. Then she grabbed a $2 car -.- I'm going to turn the heart and car into magnets and thankfully that's all she grabbed! We had fun but spent to much money. Think from now on I'm just going to let her paint things at home.

Can't wait to pick them up on Saturday :)
After painting we went to dinner.

Stubborn Amazing Girl

Warning: this entry will be mostly me braggin about my awesome kid. It'll also be about how crazy she drives me haha

We're are currently in the "Terrifying Three's". Emma is bright, says the cutest and funniest things, knows some of her ASL (american sign language), proud to do her chores, loves playing and sharing with other kids, drawing.

My Little Artist

Right: a picture she drew of her daddy on his samsung note 3 phone

 Emma's current likes:
  • Pokemon
  • Barbie
  • My Little Pony Friendship is Magic
  • Unicorns, Fairies & Mermaids
  • Batman
  • Spiderman
  • Frozen
  • and much more
ASL she knows:
  • ILY sign
  • Mom
  • Dad
  • Grandma
  • Thank you
  • Sorry

  • Milk
  • Chocolate Milk
  • Her name sign
She is also a very stubborn girl. I hear this a lot, "She's 3 years old, and she's still not potty trained?!" It's not like I haven't tried with her.. I've made a potty chart. She gets a star for peeing, disney princess sticker for poop and tinkerbell sticker for no accidents. She does really good one day and then the next day she wants nothing to do with the potty. So we've taken breaks and going to try again later. I hear you shouldn't force them, wait until they're ready. I feel like she'll still be content in diapers until she's 20 though! -.- obviously I'm exaggerating. HOPEFULLY she'll be out of pull ups by her next birthday so she can go to pre-school. That's the only reason she didn't go to pre-school this year.

Even though she's not in school yet I still have "homework time" which is usually some educational apps on her iPad mini. She has the leap frog Mr. Pencil stylus for her iPad and I recently bought her some workbooks. She's stubborn with that too. Only shape she can draw is a circle. She used to draw hearts, but I don't why she refuses to draw them now. She can count to 10 but for some reason she likes to jumble her numbers on purpose. She doesn't know her ABCs yet either. If you ask her if she knows her ABCs she says "ABC" touche kid... touche...

I know my kid is smart and she'll pick up everything in due time. She's still little and has time. I'm a proud momma.

Update

Can't believe last time I logged on was February 0.0 oops my bad. A LOT has happened since then.
  1.  Emma turned 3! (March11th)
  2. We moved... again (April 10th)
  3. My husband changed jobs. He still takes care of the mentally challege adults, but now he does it for the state of Indiana. State job means better benefits, but pay cut.
  4. I've been walking a lot more, and have lost 10 pounds so far! Only 60lbs left to go lol. I'm hoping at tax time we can join a gym.
  5. My seizures are a lot less. I'm still in pain from all my illnesses and still have flares :/
  6. Emma had her first dentist appointment
